MMA Lunch Forum on Physician AdvocacyWhen: Monday, March 3rd, 12:15-1:05
Where: Mayo 3-125
What: Dave Renner, Minnesota Medical Association's State and Federal Legislative Director, will present information on how to effectively advocate for healthcare reform. Dave will give an overview of the MMA-MSS and organized medicine, review the importance of grassroots advocacy, review MMA's top legislative issues, provide tips on communicating with your legislators, and review the issues that medical students have initiated. We will have information on and sign-up for MMA's Day at the Capitol on March 6th. Hope to see you there!

We will be going to to talk with them about the Covering the Uninsured project we are going to do with them. If you would like to go with us on the meeting, please email Nicky at mensi013@umn.edu to let her know.
Tuesday, March 4th, we are having a lunch lecture on debt management in MT 2-118.
Graduate leverage, a non-profit organization, is coming to give a lunch lecture on debt management. They have presented this information at region meetings around the country and many students have found the information quite helpful. There will be a Q and A at the end of the lunch to answer any financial questions you may have. Please consider attending; it truly is worth your time.
MMA Day at the Capitol on March 6th
from 1:30-4:00 in St. PaulThis event is open to all medical students. We are working with AMSA and other groups to recruit for this event. We will be co-sponsoring a lunch lecture on lobbying prior to Day at the Capitol and there will be a briefing session on March 6th to prepare you for the event. Click here to register for the event.
AMA Student Lobby Day in DC on March 31st
MMA has $500 for students who are interested in participating in this event. The AMA is covering a one night hotel stay for participants while there is room available. More information at www.ama-assn.org/ama/pub/category/12118.html
You must let Nicky (mensi013@umn.edu) know by Friday February 8th if you are interested in attending. You must register at the AMA website by February 15th to attend.
Next Chapter Meeting will be in March and we will be electing new officers at this time. We will be schedulding elections for next year the week after Spring Break. I will let you know the date and time once the second year schedule is posted. If you are planning on running and have a specific request of a date and time, feel free to let Nicky know at mensi013@umn.edu.
