AMA-MSS Chapter Meeting - August 14th
There will be an AMA Chapter Meeting on Thursday August 14th at 12:15 in Mayo 3-125. The purpose of the meeting is mostly to offer 1st year medical students another opportunity to become AMA members, and also to discuss briefly the year's upcoming events. All MS2, MS3, and MS4 AMA-MSS members are invited to attend and help recruit more members! Lunch will be served.
Student Sight Savers - August 31st
Student Sight Savers is organizing another vision screening at the State Fair, as part of the AHC's building at the Fair.
There will be two shifts:
Sunday, Aug 31st, 3pm - 6pm
Sunday, Aug 31st, 6pm - 9pmWe need 7 more volunteers per shift. There will be two ophthalmologists there for each shift, so it will be a great chance to get to know them and learn more about ophthalmology.
The AHC will provide free T-shirts and Tickets. Their website for the fair is: www.umn.edu/statefair; it will be live Aug 1. Please send Carolyn Bramante at bram0058@umn.edu an email if you're interested or send her your T-shirt size if you're volunteering!
MMA's 155th Annual Meeting - September 17-19

St. Paul, MN 55101Please consider becoming a delegate for either the West Metro Medical Society (formerly Hennepin County) or the East Metro Medical Society (formerly Ramsey County) during the MMA Annual Meeting this fall in St. Paul.
The convention will take place on September 17-19 right here at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in St. Paul! Both County Medical Societies are looking for medical students to serve as delegates during the resolution debate.
Either way, definitely consider attending all or part of the MMA Annual Meeting....it should be a great opportunity and they LOVE when medical students attend and show interest! Also, Jason Meyers's year-long term as Regional Delegate for the AMA is up at the Interim Meeting in November. It would be great to have another University of Minnesota student on the delegation. He'd be happy to talk with anyone about the responsibilities of this position and do his best to help with the election process; contact him at jdm@umn.edu sometime in the near future if you are at all interested or want to learn more!
