EMIG

What is EMIG?

EMIG is a med student interest group for students interested in emergency medicine. Maybe you know you want to specialize in emergency medicine, or maybe you've seen "ER" and want to know what emergency medicine is really like. Whatever your level of interest, EMIG is a great place to meet other students interested in emergency medicine, as well as residents and physicians who practice emergency medicine, and learn more about the field. Oh, and have some fun too.

What does EMIG do?

Through EMIG, you can:

1.      Shadow a mentor (resident or attending) at a local emergency department.

2.      Attend lunch lectures on topics such as “Research Opportunities in EM” or “Crazy Stories from the ER.”

3.      Participate in workshops where we practice intubations, sutures, ultrasound FAST exams, reading films, and starting IVs.

4.      Volunteer in the community through programs such as the Minneapolis Crisis Nursery or the Twins Cities Marathon.

5.      Network with emergency medicine physicians and program directors in the Twin Cities.

6.      Much more!  We’re always looking for new ideas, so please contact an officer if there’s an event you’d like to see happen.
