IDIG

Simply ask yourself the following questions…

1. Do you fear salmonella?

2. Is it a goal of your clinical career to diagnosis someone with Cat Scratch Fever?

3. Do you secretly enjoy looking at pictures of worm or fungal balls?

4. Do you ever think about the implications of the next influenza pandemic and holy $%@# people, do we have enough vaccine!?

5. Have you ever proudly told people you “got” Giardia last summer in the Boundary Waters?

If you answered yes to any to these questions, you might be interested in infectious disease. Though perceived as a thing of the past, infectious diseases are still the #1 cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. IDIG’s focus is to increase the discussion of infectious disease topics as they apply to both medicine and public health within international and domestic settings. Our activities include topic-based discussions on particular diseases and planning activities such as lunch lectures that increase the ID knowledge of fellow students. Our goals this year include a mentoring program with current ID physicians, checking out the Minnesota Department of Health, maintaining a journal club and participating in a mock outbreak. So join us for an exciting year!
